Dr. Tse-Hao Ko, Director and General Manager of Bio-medical Carbon Technology, cofounded Bio-medical Carbon Technology with Director Peng-Wei Chen in 2010.
Dr. Ko, with more than 30 years of research experience in carbon materials, is a Distinguished Professor at Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Feng Chia University. He is concurrently the Taiwanese representative at the Asian Association of Carbon Groups, also an expert at the National Development and Reform Commission of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, and associate editor and editorial member of New Carbon Materials and Carbon Letters journals.
Dr. Ko has published over 100 SCI literatures and received more than 50 patents around the world. His research covers from hydrogen fuel cell carbon electrodes to energy storage materials. Dr. Ko is most well-known for his “PAN-based Activated Carbon Fabrics”, a key material in the best nuclear, biological and chemical protective clothes in the world as accredited by the Alfred Karcher GmbH & Co. KG. To contribute to the society, Dr. Ko utilized this material for medical application and developed the “Antimicrobial Activated Carbon Fiber Materials”, a patented technology that was introduced in the “100 Innovations from Academic Research to Real-World Application” news report in Technology Transfer Works published by Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) in 2007. In 2012, it also won the National Innovation Award from the Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry and the National Invention and Creation Award from the Intellectual Property Office, Ministry of Economic Affairs, R.O.C.
Dr. Ko has also successfully developed innovative treatment for vaginitis and female urinary system, which have received patents in the UK, US, China and Taiwan and is being commercialized. In addition, therapeutic products for gastrointestinal ulcer have also received patents in several countries and are also in the commercialization process.
